Focus Stacking – Automated Macro Photography. Macro-photography is a fascinating sub-set of the photographic world. It brings to life detail that the human eye all too often misses. Unfortunately macro photographs often suffer from a narrow depth of field. How do photographers capture that stunning shot at high magnification and still have a great depth of field? Enter focus stacking. Focus stacking is the art of digitally combining a series of images with a narrow depth of field into a single image using a software program such as Zerene Stacker or Helicon Focus.
This is one of my most used bits of equipment. Lever-Release Quick-Release Clamp, 60mm jaws. It is also available as a 40mm and 80mm clamp. The B2 LR II has dual mounts: center socket is countersunk on top but also threaded 3/8″-16. It mounts by spinning onto an exposed threaded post or with flat head screw from above (accept M6 or 1/4″-20, not 3/8″). These clamps are appropriate for mounting on a wide range of equipment – which may not necessarily be manufactured by Really Right Stuff.
This is the Full Gimbal version of the innovative and modular series of PG-02 Pano-Gimbal heads. For ultimate portability, this head breaks down quickly and easily with no tools: slide the Cradle Clamp off of the Vertical Rail, then slide the Vertical Arm off of the Horizontal Base. Components pack flat. The PG-02 delivers precision smooth panning and rock solid lockup. I use with my biggest lenses for effortless tracking of birds and wildlife.
This levelling base is fitted with a clamp instead of a platform. This makes it ideal as a base for multiple tripod heads. Now I can quickly and easily swap between my ballhead to my gimbal head or video head. No need for multiple tripods. Note that each tripod head must be fitted with a quick-release plate, but that is not a problem for me since all my gear is RRS compatible.
PC-LR key features:
New robust lever-release mechanism adjusts to accept all Arca-Swiss/Really Right Stuff-style plates – which is fantastic for my panoramic shots using a gimbal, long lens birdwatching or to give my macro slider a degree of flexibility that it did not have before.
The B150-B is a premium linear motion lead screw focusing stage and rail. The B150-B is designed to mate seamlessly with my quick release systems in as compact a package as possible. The bottom rail comprises a Really Right Stuff-compatible dovetail that mates with my ballhead clamp while the stage integrates my lever clamp that connects directly to my Really Right Stuff camera plates.
